H♥ART Gallery Tennessee is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization with the mission of offering homeless persons and other non-traditional artists an opportunity to create and sell their artwork for their benefit.

We offer weekly community-based art classes where we take art materials, volunteers and staff to resource agencies that can provide class space. These classes encompass a diverse population throughout Chattanooga including the homeless and transient community, low-income seniors, at-risk inner-city youth, persons facing mental-health issues or physical challenges as well as many others in need. We work with volunteer art instructors to incorporate their ideas for developing and executing art classes and community projects. We partner with a variety of local social service organizations and established not-for-profits in pursuits of bringing a sense of connection and growth to our community. We accomplish this goal through art making, encouraging creativity, and dialoguing. Our ambition is to give those who would not have the opportunity a chance to make something of value and see their capabilities.

If an artist in one of our community classes shows commercial viability their artwork is exhibited in the HArt Gallery where we promote and sell their work. Select works are sold through the gallery at affordable prices. Sixty percent of the money from art sales is returned directly to the artists, H♥ART keeps thirty percent to cover art supplies, rent, and other expenses, and the artists choose where the final ten percent goes as a way to support the missions of the other not-for-profits in which they believe. Selling art through the gallery also helps our artists to qualify for low-income housing. We have served over 15,000 people during our six years and have logged more than 3000 volunteer hours.

The artists are invited to create in the gallery on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:00-5:00pm. They have the option of using their own found materials or the materials that we provide.  HArt Gallery provides a meal on those days that is shared between the artists and staff. Our desire is to establish a relationship with our artists that will help them help themselves to a life of stability and self-worth.
